MEDICAL FOUNDATION PROGRAMME
While there is an increasing demand for doctors and dentists to work in the UK, it is extremely difficult to secure a place at a British Medical School. The 1-year Medical Foundation Programme taught at our college offers an attractive and unique opportunity.
The programme helps students to acquire the knowledge base and academic skills necessary to study Medicine or Dentistry at degree level. It provides an understanding of how the human body works through the study of physiology, genetics and molecular biology, cells and tissues, microbiology and chemistry.
Students will be given excellent advice on applying to medical and dental schools, such as UCAS application form, personal statements, UKCAT and interview preparation. Students on the Medical Foundation are also given assistance in gaining relevant work experience.
Successful completion (65% or over + IELTS 6.5) of this programme secures progression onto the M&D Pre-Medical programme in London. This programme has an excellent record of securing students places at UK Medical Schools with a far higher percentage of students gaining a place at a UK Medical or Dental School than through the traditional A Level route, alternatively students can progress directly into medical schools in Poland, Czech Republic, or Slovakia.
Graduates of the M&D Foundation and the M&D Pre-Med Programmes also have the exciting opportunity to study medicine or dentistry abroad at Cardinal Herrera University in Valencia, Charles University in Prague, Cormenius University in Bratislava, or the Medical University of Gdansk in Poland.

Students who already have relevant qualifications may only need to complete certain modules of the M&D Pre-Med such as Psychology and Advanced English and Communication, which they require in addition, to apply to Medical School.
For those with insufficient language skills, the M&D Foundation Programme is combined with English language tuition and IELTS preparation classes.
Various teaching methods are used, including lectures, seminars and practicals.
There are two intakes a year, one in September and the other in January.

If students have achieved a lower grade in one of these exams, they may be accepted for this course subject to a Pre-Sessional Programme of between 3 and 6 months. Please refer to college for level required in order to qualify for these Pre-Sessional programmes.
