YOUR DUTIES AS AN INTERNATIONAL STUDENT

As an international student you have to comply with the UKBA regulations. As a college, we also have a duty to ensure that students are genuine in their desire to study and do not pose any immigration risk.

Full information on student duties can be found on the UKBA Website, but the following is a summary of the regulations:

  • Once you have received your visa, you must straight away inform the college and tell us when you are travelling to the UK.
  • Within 48 hours of arriving in the UK, you must report to the college for enrolment.
  • You must attend over 80% of your lessons. If you fail to do so, then the college will be forced to report your absence to the UKBA.
  • You must not work more hours than is permitted by the visa regulations. At present, students on degrees and postgraduate study can work up to 20 hours per week during term time. Other students can work only 10 hours per week during term time. During vacations, students are allowed to work full time.
  • You must keep the college fully informed concerning changes to your address and other contact details. It is also important to keep us informed of any changes to the contact details of your parents or guardians.
