SOCIAL EVENTS AT ALBION COLLEGE

As our college is situated in one of the most beautiful areas of central London, we like to encourage our students to take advantage of this and see some of the magnificent museums, galleries and libraries around.

The British Museum, for example is just a 3 minute walk from Albion College and entrance is free to the permanent exhibition areas. In fact a lot of museums and galleries in London are free to enter which is a big advantage for students on a budget.

The "Albion College Student Union" is a group of students who meet regularly and organise social activities for all the students. Outings to amusement parks such as Thorpe Park are organised. Tickets are arranged in advance so everyone can travel there together and avoid long queues when they get there.

Another one of our regular destinations is Leeds Castle, a beautiful Castle in Kent, which combines 900 years of history with 500 acres of exquisite parklands. Our students are always enthralled by the beauty as well as delighted with the special events organised there which bring the place to life.

At the end of the Christmas term and the summer term there is a party for students, again organised by the student union. Our college parties are lots of fun, with music supplied by our student DJ as well as lots of dancing and refreshments supplied by the college. It is the perfect occasion for students to relax after all their hard work and to get to know each other socially.

For students who need to improve their English, we run a conversation hour every Thursday outside of class times with one of our English Teachers. Students can discuss anything they wish and practice their English in an informal situation.

Albion International is the name of our college football team. One evening a week our team members meet to play in a London league. Although it is a 5-a-side league we usually encourage about 10 students to join the team and they usually all end up having a go. Once a year we organise a match between teachers and students which usually provides great entertainment!

Students also meet for cinema visits during the winter and picnics or walks in the spring and summer when the weather is nice. Yes, London is not all fog, rain and cold – we do actually have sunny days too!
