The UK education system has seen so many changes over the last few years, that it is difficult to understand even for us in Britain! However, the basic structure remains the same.

Gaining A Place On a BA or BSc programme in the UK

The biggest difference between the UK system and that of most other countries is that, in the UK, there are 13 years of teaching at schools before entering on to a degree programme. In most other countries there are only 12 years.

However, at universities in the UK, most degree programmes are completed in three years compared with four years in most other countries.

This means that students wishing to study for a degree at a UK university after completing High School in their own countries, need to complete an additional year of studies in the UK – this is the main purpose of our University Foundation Programme which gives High School graduates from other countries, the opportunity to gain a place on degree programmes at most UK universities.

Gaining A Place on an MA or MSc Programme in the UK

Differences also exist between the Higher Education systems of the UK and other countries, and some degrees are not accepted by UK universities for direct entry on to Masters programmes. Therefore another programme is required before gaining a place. This is the principal purpose of our Masters Qualifying Programme in giving students an accepted qualification to enter on to Business, Finance, and Management related Masters courses in the UK.
