| Professional Diploma
in Hospitality Management
This programme is suitable for all students who
wish to enter into the hospitality industry. It
has a balance of modules specifically related
to the hospitality industry and relevant business
management concepts taught within the context
of this industry. It is a two year programme -
one year of tuition and one year of paid work
placement at a UK hotel. It offers a combination
of theoretical background and practical skills,
preparing students for their year of work placement.
During the period of working in a hotel, students
will make reports confirming their progress, and,
at the end of the programme, will write a dissertation
on a particular aspect of the hospitality industry,
combining knowledge gained in the tuition period
and work experience.
The programme focuses on the global nature of
the contemporary hospitality industry and is therefore
ideal for overseas students.
By the end of the programme, students will have
a secure knowledge of business management concepts
and of the main contemporary issues relating to
the hospitality industry. They will also have
a good appreciation of the actual nature of working
in the industry and have developed skills in relating
to work colleagues and clients. On successful
completion of the diploma, students will be able
to progress to Year 2 of the BA (Hons) in Tourism
and Hospitality at London South Bank University.
Modules are assessed by the Organisation for
Tourism and Hospitality Management and successful
students are given a guaranteed progression to
Year Two of the BA (Hons) degree course in Tourism
and Hospitality at South Bank University.
