| A LEVELS
A Levels are the standard route in the UK to
universities. Students can choose to study over
one or two years. In the two year route, students
take four subjects in their first year (A/S Level)
and three subjects in the second year (A2 Level).
On the one year programme, students take three
subjects. It is also possible to study on an eighteen
month programme, starting in January
Teaching takes place in small groups with a
maximum of eight students per class – normally
there are three or four students per class This
allows students to benefit from individual care
and attention from the tutor, and to avoid suffering
in silence if there is any part of the course
which is not fully understood.
Our A Level teachers all have many years of experience
and understand exactly what is required to gain
high grades. With places at top universities becoming
increasingly competitive this is an essential
ingredient of success. Applications for first
degree programmes are through the central body,
UCAS, and students receive one-to-one help in
what is often seen as a confusing and difficult
system. Assistance is given in choosing the most
suitable universities and courses, preparing personal
statements, and practising for interviews.
In our experience, many students respond well
to a more adult and less regimented environment
than is
possible in a normal school. Moreover, as our
College is relatively small, it is possible for
us to monitor closely each student’s progress,
and to react quickly to any problems they may
encounter.
All A Level students receive free IELTS tuition
throughout the programme.
